One of my favorite snacks is cottage cheese mixed with sour cream. My mom eats it; my grandmother ate it. My husband thinks it's utterly disgusting, and has never heard of anyone but us eating the combination.
I tried to look up some background--particularly as a Jewish food--but I've been coming up empty. I seem to remember my grandmother explaining something about how cottage cheese used to be really dry, and so people used to mix it with sour cream to give it some moisture, but I can't even find proof of that. Do you have any ideas? Does anyone else eat this combination, or is my family nuts?
