Cosmo Cupcake and Ice Cream Watertown

Sitting on the coach watching the boob tube last night I had a craving for something sweet.

Walking down Mt. Auburn Street it occured to me that the new bakery / Ice Cream joint Cosmo Cupcake and Ice Cream would be great to try out.

It was 9:20 pm and a woman was working in the bakery part of the store, but the retail side was dark. As I looked inside though someone was inside cleaning up and closing the store for the night.

I knocked on the window and the kind guy let me in.

He tried to talk me into a really excellent looking cake, but I figured as my first Cosmo foray I would try something a bit more basic: chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting.

The cupcake: not too dense, not too light. Very chocolatey (clearly made with dark chocolate) but not too. Also, not too sweet in fact dang if it wasn't perfect!

Now the icing... I swoon just thinking about it. It was fabulous. Tasted like a really excellent dark chocolate ganache. It was applied in delicate little peaks.

Bottom line, and I hesitate to use superlatives, it may just have been the best chocolate cupcake I have ever eaten! $2 ain't cheap, but it was delish. The cakes were only $10 and looked every bit as good. A comparable cake at Rosie's would be $16-18.

Needless to say, I will be back to Cosmo.

I mentioned in an earlier post that they also sell excellent ice cream from Cristina's.

Cosmo is located on Mt. Auburn at roughly #580. Right near Arax, Sevan, and all that good stuff.

They are open until 9:00pm. Definitely worth the trip.
