Corona's Lunch in Sleepy Hollow

TGO | Feb 21, 2006 10:58 AM

Stopped by there last night for a quick dinner. It's a true hole in the wall luncheonette. We ordered sancocho, one plate of roast chicken with a garlic sauce, rice and beans and a side of plantains. Our entire bill was $14 and the portions were huge. There was plenty of food for both of us plus leftovers. Food was tasty and comforting although my husband suspected that the garlic sauce had either MSG or lots of salt both of which he is sensitive to. Next time we'd opt for the plain roast chicken.

The place seems like it's been there for ages and is now being run by Dominicans perhaps? The waitress mentioned that the place had changed owners but didn't say when. It looks like a vestige from the old GM plant days right across the street from the auto workers union building.

Does anyone know more about this place and can you recommend other dishes or local latin restaurants in or near Sleepy Hollow? Thanks!
