Copper River sockeye salmon

Sushi Monster | Jun 10, 2006 04:32 PM

My apologies if I've overlooked a previous post on this savory topic. Just wanted to note for the group that my local Safeway in Redwood City (the Sequoia Station location) had a rather pleasant surprise today:

FRESH Copper River sockeye salmon fillets at 9-something a pound. I was momentarily rendered mute by this discovery. This Safeway typically stocks only Atlantic farm-raised, color-added salmon. The 9-something price is also extraordinary for my neighborhood. I didn't go across the street to Whole Foods to compare, but Whole Foods reliable *frozen* sockeye is typically around $13 or up.

There will be some big eating at Sushi Monster's house tonight.
