Went to Cookshop last night with my wife and two friends. I thought the restaurant was fine in every respect, but nothing special.
We started with the fried spiced hominy, which was a delicious snack with our drinks. However, they served good bread too and some type of spread, so the extra snack really was superfluous.
Appetizer salads were good, but nothing special.
My wife had the whole porgy with fries, I had the chicken, which actually sounded quite good. Her porgy was good, the fries were better. My chicken was weak - almost flavorless. Our friends had short ribs, which they liked but did not rave about.
Service wasn't particularly friendly, or particularly informative. Just acceptable all around.
Don't plan to return. Notably, the restaurant was about 3/4 full at 9pm, which to me seems like dissipating buzz.
