Cooking food in corn husks - not tamales

Looking around for sausages made by tying with corn husks, I came across a number of non tamale recipes of foods cooked in corn husks.

Have you ever tried a recipe like that? Does a corn husk impart any special flavor? I know that cooking food in fig leaves gives it a wonderful flavor.

Or is it just a method to keep food moist?

I know it isn't corn season, but this has me interested. I wonder if wrapping salmon in corn husks and throwing it in the microwave would achieve anything. My apologies to real cooks, but lacking skills, any flavor trick that sounds easy I will try.
