Cooking cheap and healthy with gifted food

HungrySenior | Mar 28, 201502:33 PM

I am hoping for some inspiration. I go to a park 0-3 times a week and get free food that has been gleaned because the store is about to throw it out. The gifting organization is called Food Not Bombs. I have been going to the park as often as strength and weather allow, for the last 2 years. I also get a box from the food shelf once a month and have $101/month in SNAP for food purchases. I thought maybe we could make a game of this. What would you cook to use up what is given to me? I have lots of staples and spices in my cupboards. I REALLY lucked out today! I got a 4 pound package of cheese trimmings. Looks like it might be cheddar. Most fruits and veggies are on their last legs when I get them. I just cut out the rotten spots. Here is today's haul. I was second in line, so it's some yummy stuff :-)
