cooking asian noodles

I had followed a thread on here regarding cooking these noodles that don't have any instructions on the package and it helped. Thought I would offer this very recent insight, given that I had attempted to have some for dinner tonight.

My two packaged noodles were labeled 1) "vermicelli (bean thread) and 2) "tapioca strip" on them so I didn't know if they were rice noodles or what or whether to boil them or simply place them in really hot water as I had heard to do. I boiled both and both turned out to be a gelatinous mess. I even rinsed them after boiling. Both went into the disposal. So my thought is that if you have packages labeled as mine were, place them in really hot water to sit and they will soften. Treating like pasta and boiling won't do it. Hope this helps someone.
