Just had an inspired lunch from Alfanoose on Fulton and Broadway in Lower Manhattan. Perfect meal, from the flavorful meat kibbeh to the hajadara (cracked wheat, lentils and fried onions - I think the spelling is correct)to the wonderful babaganouj. Every time I'm in there, there is something new featured in the display case, or at least there appears to be, probably because there is an unusually large amount to choose from. And everything is incredibly fresh. The secret is oozing out as the lines are getting a little longer, but it is still nothing compared to the wait at Sam's Falafel at One Liberty Plaza just a couple of blocks away. Fantastic as Sam's is, if you want a little more complexity, Alfanoose is where its at downtown.
