We have gone down to JF the past couple of years and have enjoyed ourselves immensely. Our primary reason for going was not the music, however, but rather the food.
I'm from NYC and consider myself a very discerning eater. You can take Chicago, LA, SF and the rest of them. NOLA is my favorite, second only to NYC.
I'm having a hard time convincing my GF to go this year because she has these images of "toxic soup" indellibly etched in her head from the TV coverage of the hurricane. I have tried to explain to her that it is perfectly safe to eat in any restaurant which is open. The health dept isnt going to allow an establishment to re-open if it wasnt fit to. I'm sure all of the oyster beds in the gulf have been tested to no end as well.
Can you locals please help convince her that its safe to eat by using some anectdotal or published reports?
I know this thread seems like its bordering on crazy but I think this is my only chance to convince her.
I dont want to travel (and eat) alone :)
