Coming to L.A, coupla questions

Nathan Lee | Jan 15, 200301:58 PM

My wife and I will be going up to L.A for a few days to visit friends, and natually we plan to eat some foods we don't usually get here in San Diego.

My uncle who just visited L.A told me about one Chinese seafood restaurant in L.A that had specials on crab and peking duck for $1.99 each for lunch and $3.99 for dinner. Another had the live shrimp for $1.99/lb. He gave me the Chinese name to one, and literally translated it would be: North Sea Seafood. I know sometimes the English name and Chinese names don't jive. Anyone know of these deals?

I also read on the latest issue of Saveur (Saveur 100)about Wat Thai Food Court (#40). Anyone ever been? Is it worth going?

I also remember reading somewhere about a deli in L.A serving pastrami sandwiches. What made me gasp was it mentioned this place in the same sentence as pastrami from Katz deli in NY. I think it was luger's or something to that effect. Was I just day dreaming or is there a pastrami sandwich that is comparable to those at Katz?
