Comically bad service at new restaurant Cami

Kerry | Jan 2, 2005 09:51 AM

Yesterday Munch (my favorite cafe in Forest Hills) was closed, so I decided to try the new Cami on Austin St. The service was so awful that I will never go back, although the waitress was very nice and apologized.

There were three or four waitresses for a room that isn't that large. I sat down with my friend, and 10 minutes later we hadn't seen a menu, so we flagged down a waitress and asked for one. She disappeared, and a little later another waitress came by to ask if we'd received a menu. She finally brought us one. Another 10 minutes later, no one had showed to take our order so we flagged someone down again. We tried to order, but were told that the second page of the menu was not being served, so we just ordered oatmeal and lox/eggs/onions.

20 minutes later, the waitress comes back to say that there is no oatmeal. We agree to forgo the oatmeal.

30 minutes later, no food has arrived and several people who came in after us have finished their meals. I'm starting to get upset, so I tell the waitress that we are going to leave. She apologizes and says she will send over some free mimosas.

A man in a cook's suit comes out and deposits the mimosas on the table next to us, with a couple who just came in.

Another 10 or 20 minutes go by and I'm about to leave when the food finally comes out, and the order is wrong! And I don't know what took an hour, as the bagels were untoasted.

Our waitress was very nice and asked us if we wanted a free dessert, but we were just happy to get out of there. I'll stick to Munch...
