Am finally getting around to some of the restaurants around the Columbia/Dutchess border. Went to Foster's in Rhinebeck on Thursday. It was the perfect place to be after and during a day and a half of storms -- beef and a beer and watch the rain. Had Friday night dinner at Stoney Creek in Tivoli and very much enjoyed it. Everything was extremely fresh and nicely prepared.
I've been keeping my eye on Pongo and listening for more of the saga. No need. Pongo is now Lenahan's, a pubby sort of place. Anybody been there yet?
Germantown has a new restaurant venture, the Egg and I, with an adjoining bakery. A nice start. They plan to expand from breakfast and lunch to the addition of dinner. And Central Market has reopened. I don't know what it was before because it seemed always closed and then under renovation when I passed.
I went in just to check it out. Bingo! Who'd of thought? Clean, bright, and classy! I'll buy my staples elsewhere, but it looks as if there are folk pretty choosy about bringing in good meats and cheeses. I'm told fresh fish will be available on Fridays.
