Cold Brewed Coffee Report

Years ago I tried some coffee at a now defunct coffee place that made their iced coffee drinks using the coffee toddy/cold brewed system. It was so good that I vowed to buy a system but I never did. Then I read a few inquiries on this board and my interest in purchasing one was renewed. I bought one through the link to amazon on this site and put it work immediately. On my first attempt I followed the directions to a tee and it was good but not as good as I remembered. So I threw caution to the wind, instead of getting a medium bodied ground coarse coffee (like I did the first time)I bought french roast, ground for a drip coffee maker. It turned out great. I like strong coffee so I used 2/3 concentrate to 1/3 coffee. DH likes it too but likes weaker coffee but with the toddy he can adjust the strength accordingly. He prefers his coffee hot and was pretty impressed with coffee heated as well. The only problem I have come across is that I tossed the filter out with grounds, but that seems to be a user issue not a function of the toddy. Other than that, clean up is easy because all parts (except for the filter) can go into the dishwasher. The carafe is nice and the top that is included with it forms a nice seal. I am contemplating getting a second carafe so I can make extra. I don't see it completely replacing my much loved, very basic Capresso coffee maker but I definitely see using the toddy all summer for nice iced coffee on hot mornings.
