Cognac Bistro (Brookline) short review - pricing??!

gramercyfoodie | Oct 30, 201007:13 PM     19

We love to try new Brookline spots and as a result can barely wait for the paint to dry -- so we tried Cognac Bistro tonight. We were so thrilled to have a French Bistro in town and get a break from the very good Asian influence. The interior is really lovely - they did a great job w/the space. The service is equally lovely. The food was quite good too. However, we had one really big gripe - the pricing. I am fully aware that the cost of doing business is high right now, but I'm terribly confused how I restaurant on Harvard Street that could be a fabulous neighborhood place decided to price the menu similarly to fine dining establishments downtown or in NY. The entrées ranged from approx. $23 to $29 with french fries at $8. We found it egregious. As I said we were so excited to find a new place to go to on a weeknight in our hood and just don't know what the owners were thinking. I'm hoping they revise their pricing/menu options and really make this place work...the potential is there.
