Coffee Shop Nostalgia on the Peninsula

Melanie Wong | Oct 9, 200210:17 PM     24

In the local burger chain thread, Zach asked, "Now, on my way to Nation's in the stuck-in-the-50s shopping center, I passed the Westlake Coffee Shop. Packed with people. Anyone know anything about this place?"

Would you believe it's featured as episode #136 on snapcity.com?

The towns and cities stretched out along El Camino Real seemed to have preserved these hold-outs. Maybe 'hounds can share some of their favorites.

One I'm wondering about is Ann's on Santa Cruz Ave. in Menlo Park. Wandered by on a Sunday when it was closed, but was intrigued by the posted daily specials, listings of homemade pies, and the vinyl-swathed interior. What's the story?
