Coastal Chow in the Carolinas

On my last two trips to the coast I have been disappointed in the food. The Calabash style seafood seemed like it had been frozen, and the "fine dining" options were overpriced and inexpertly prepared. It really is a shame with all that fresh seafood to be had and no one really cooking it well.

There used to be a restaurant near the bridge at Sunset Beach called The Italian Fisherman. It was an eye opener to me at the time because I had never had seafood prepared other than battered and fried. I'll never forget the first dish of scallops with wine and basil I got there. Alas, they're no longer open for business.

So chowhounds, where do you eat at the beach? Is anyone making a seafood platter out of the day's catch? Are there any chefs doing great stuff with the sea's bounty. I'd be willing to change beaches for one with a great restaurant.
