Well, the great Red's Eats has been de-throned.
I have never had a better lobster roll than the one (three) I had at Clem & Ursie's during our trip to Provincetown this weekend. They have two varieties: (1) cold lobster salad version with mayo; and (2) "hot lazy lobster roll". I didn't mess around with the cold version, as I strongly prefer the hot versions.
Although it had slightly less lobster than the version at Red's Eats, it was superior in every other way. The lobster tasted better. It wasn't at all tough. The hot dug bun was grilled to a perfect light char. And, somehow the lettuce and tomato (which I thought to be odd add-ons) complemented the rich lobster meat perfectly, and weren't the distraction I feared they might be. The lobster meat, itself, was dripping with butter, and seasoned only (if at all) with salt and pepper, I think.
Best sandwich of any kind in recent memory.
I hope to post more later on some other Provincetown treats, but none were as memorable as this.
