Claypot Rice - One of Hong Kong's iconic comfort food

Charles Yu | Mar 31, 201601:16 PM

10.00 pm in the evening and the long line outside Fourseasons Claypot Rice is a reflection of the popularity of this iconic homey, comfort food. With various assortment of toppings to choose from, the real enjoyment comes, not from the toppings or the rice itself but from that crunchy and crispy layer of rice cracklings underneath. Mixed with some sweet soy sauce, the delicious end results could be oh so addictive!

Looks like a lot of Hole-in-the-wall outfits are offering this delicacy these days. This place in Jordan took a more high-tech approach by using gas burner over real charcoal burners

Part of the LONG line! Almost 10.00 in the evening!

Preserved Wind Dried Duck topping

Eel with Goju berries and Chinese herbs

Fresh frogs with Chinese mushrooms. Another exotic ingredient that taste like 'chicken'! Lovely Chinese wine marinade.

The ' fermented bean curd paste' that goes with the water spinach was surprisingly tasty! Sweet, a bit spicy and not too salty.

Surprise to find this greaseless Chiu Chow style Oyster Omelette being offered. Crispy with loads of baby oysters filling.
