CityFarm/Slow Foods

I had the extreme pleasure of attending the Slow Food event at the City/Farm on Clybourn last Wednesday that MAG had previously written about. Apparently they have a dinner/fundraiser every Wednesday and you can read her post to obtain the details. The setting is pretty amazing-a beautiful oasis in the heart of Cabrini Green with spectacular views of the Chicago skyline. Slow Food is an organization promoting ecologically sound food production and the enjoyment of these foods with family and friends. I found the people very friendly and food savvy, with a good mix of professionals and amateur food lovers like myself. I'm sold on the organization and will be one of their newest members.

I won't go into any detail on the menu because the food is secondary to the experience but we started with a very tasty gazpacho, followed by some barbequed ribs and chicken legs, and ended with a nice carrot cake. Beer and wine were also provided. The evening began with a tour of the gardens. By all means check out the organization and attend an event. You won't regret it.
