City Pub in Redwood City report

Wendy Lai | Mar 18, 200206:16 PM

As the poster below told me, this was a pretty yuppie pub, but not in a bad way I think.

Its interior is quite nice, good use of industrial materials and lights. In the middle of the room was a fireplace, quite nice on a cold night.

The five of use got a variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads and beer. They have lots of beers on tap, including Bass, Newcastle and Guinness, which I know separately, can make black and tan or brown and tan (not always easy to find at other bars)

The burgers were good, came on toasted buns with plenty of "toppings" of tomatoes, lettuce, pickle and red onions. You can have house fries or house salad. House fries are think cut fries with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, really delicious if you got a plate of freshly fried ones. My husband's fries seemed a bit old, while our companions seem to have fresh fries. I got the house salad, which was just mixed greens with a few slices of tomatoes. Nothing major, but I can appreciate fresh lettuce that's not overdressed.

The price was very reasonable too, $7-9 for the burgers. I would think this place makes for a good lunch spot.
