Chowish North End /Waterfront for large group?

Robin | Mar 13, 2006 11:14 AM

We are having a small wedding ceremony in Columbus Park on a Saturday in June. The guest list is probably 35-45, but could go as high as 50.

I have tentative reservations at Mamma Maria, but the room only holds 40ish, and we might go over that. As good as MM is, I sometimes think it is overkill (both food and money-wise) for such a large group, many of which are not foodies. I would like a moderately upscale, chowish type place that we can walk to after the ceremony. A nicely decorated private room is a big bonus. I would love an outdoor location, but I have all but given up on that for a Saturday night.

Here are my initial ideas, feel free to critique:

1) Sel de la Terre
2) Lucca
3) Fiore

Any good places that I missed? Any good/bad private dining experiences with Mamma Maria, in case we stick with them?

Any advice is much appreciated!
