The time has come at last!
Registration for the premier chowdown of the year, Chowing with the Hounds 2004, is now open. Don't miss this opportunity to eat, drink, and be merry with your fellow hounds. Follow the link to sign up. Space is limited and the event will sell out.
Below are some of the great things to expect at the picnic. See the Chowing With The Hounds website for more details.
WHEN: Saturday, October 9th, 2004, from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
WHERE: Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. The exact site location and directions will be e-mailed to registered participants.
WHO: Both old-timers and newcomers, frequent posters and occasional readers, are encouraged to attend! Chowhounds are fun and friendly people who will make you feel welcome. Invitations extend to one Chowhound, plus a spouse or a friend, and their children.
WHY: To have a great time, eat some great food, drink some great wine, and all the while, raise money for Chowhound.com, thus ensuring the survival and quality of our quest for great food.
COST: The cost is a $30 donation per adult. One child under 12 is free for each paid adult admission.
The main event of the picnic! Each adult is asked to bring a dish--either homemade or from a favorite food establishment--to share with others. Then everyone will vote for the most delectable of delectables -- so make sure to bring enough for everyone to get a taste! Certificates will be awarded for achievement in the following categories: appetizer, entrée, side dish, bread, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. Additionally, prizes will be awarded for the overall favorite entry and best store-bought discovery.
Tastings & Demonstrations
At previous picnics, we have held a cheese identification contest, an olive oil tasting, and last year, a fabulous apple seminar. What will it be this year?
Bring a used cookbook to the picnic and well have a big ol book-swapping.
Lets gather and chow!
