I have been reading a lot of postings on the board and I just have a few comments.
Why do people take it personally when someone has a posting about a restaurant that is negative. It is very feasible that you may have had entirely different experiences. As someone who has travelled a lot, it basically can be summed up as this, whether a place is worthy or overrated is purely an issue of what your best dining experiences are.
It comes to that issue of relativity. If someone says striped bass for example is overrated or le bec fin or the Fountain and they have never eaten outside philly, that coud be certainly suspect. If however they have eaten in far better restaurants and there are many, that gives the statement credence.
Think of it this way, if someone says "Le becfin serves basic french food", or Buddakan serves basic asian food,That is clearly untrue.
If they say Le bec fin serves basic french food compared to Michel Bras, or that Buddakan serves basic asian food compared to Tetsuya that is a completely accurate statement.
So you see folks, dont take it personally.
It is all about relativity.
Any thought anyone ?
