chowdowns...china village..diappointing

I just went to China Village in Albany last night and after reading so many excited posts about this place I was excited to try it....granted out of 6 of us, only one other person was very adventurous in ordering, but I though if this is a great place it will still be great...very disappointing!

The homemade noodles in the chowmein were so-so, the kidney appetizer was overly urinous, with the sauce seeming to function as a cover for the flavor of the poorly cleaned kidney, some water dumplings were almost flavorless and the spicy sauce that came with them didn't save them, the chengdu prawns sort of sweet and sickly, the braised bean curd (mandarin...) also too sweet, and not delectable for silken tofu. The mustard greens with garlic were quite good, but I have had them as good or better elsewhere.

So, we may not have ordered right, but I would hope that it would have been at least pretty good....

I wonder what others think, recent experiences have been?

Also when is an exciting chowdown in the works? I would love to come...
