CHOWDOWN at Chili Garden - Hunan cuisine in Fremont

Han Lukito | Feb 24, 200311:22 AM     1

Dear fellow hounds,

After a good report from tanspace and a good scouting experience from myself, I like to propose a chow gathering at this place.

I propose to have it on Saturday, March 1 at 11:30 am. What do you think ?

If you like Hunan/Chinese food, I think this is an excellent place. It is a bit spicy but not numbing spicy as in Szechuan food. Actually, it is delicious.

PLEASE EMAIL ME AT VALUTECH@PACBELL.NET IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

Anyone else interested ? We try to limit to 10-12 people but will try to accomodate more.

The place has good decor IMO. All the tables are equipped with linen tablecloth and the plates are real blue china plates made of glass. The prices are very reasonable. And the food/selections I think is unique, authentic and outstanding.

The set menu contains some of the chef's special dishes. However, it was all in chinese letters.
-Sea Bass
-Sea cucumber
-Honey pecan prawn
-Hot pot fire beef
-A type of roast duck
-Sliced chicken and jellyfish
-Vegetable dish with corn kernels
-Fish
-Bokchoy with mushrooms

The above are the $88.95. Good for 8-10 people.
The more expensive set menu is even more impressive at $118.95 (good for 10-12 people). We might order more dishes if the group as a whole decides to do so.

Location:
CHILI GARDEN RESTAURANT
3213 WALNUT AVE
FREMONT, CA 94538
TEL 510-792-8945

At the end of dinner, we will pass around voluntary donations to help keep this site running. After all, we would not be able to have these kinds of dinners if not for the site.
