Chow dilemma: dining in Flushing with an asian-food averse friend

Tonight I am crashing at the home of a friend with serious food allergies that keep her away from Asian cuisine (no kidding - I nearly killed her with a dosa once - she spent the night in the hospital!). This really stinks for me as I love Asian food and seldom get out to Flushing in the evening. So help me salvage the experience. I'm looking for something not too expensive (I have about $40 in my pocket, that's just for me, not both of us) and preferably some sort of American or Continental cuisine. She's not big on Central/South American. She loves Italian. Nice glass of wine would be good. We'll be in Flushing but have access to a car, so anywhere no more than 20 minutes away in any direction and relativley simple to reach is fine - I can Mapquest any place that sounds great.

Thanks!
