Chorizo - possibly Macracoda, carne Seca

In the 80's I had a roommate whose parents lived in Matamoros,Mexico. When they visited they would bring us small white boxes of Chorizo made somewhere in Mexico, I believe Matamoros but am not sure. The box was about twice the size of a deck of cards. The chorizo was in small very thin almost paper like casings maybe an inch long, 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide. The Choirzo was Very dry. We would twist the casing and flake it into scrambled eggs and wrap all in a tortilla. Does anyone know anything about this brand of chorizo. I'm not fond of the more sausage like chorizo which is easy to find. Thanks. I've been searching 20 years and just recently found Chowhound.I've put messages on the California, Southwest, Middlewest, International and now the General boards. From some great Texas area chowhounds I also got a lead that this might not be Chorizo but Carne Seca also called macracoda. Want to know where I can buy some - have it shipped.
