I'm linking to this recipe on Epicurious. I need to make the cake tonight, and transport it Sat morning to a camp-out (no refrigeration) to be eaten Sat night. I normally make Martha's devils food w/ Mrs. Milmans choc frosting, but I'm intriqued by the caramel component here, and by the desire to try something new.
What do you think of the recipe? I would leave the choc chips out of the cake batter. Do you think sugar AND milk chocolate would be too sweet?
I read the jillion reviews after the recipe and they range from *best cake on planet* to *soupy,boring,too sweet, icing never set, cake-in-a-bowl*
Thoughts? alternatives? thanks!
