Chistopher Daniel - "Modern American Steaks" in Timonium - a report

Yesterday I took my best friend to dinner for her bday at Christopher Daniel, located on Padonia Road next to Fells Pt Futon.

We sat down and were served some focaccia bread and breadsticks w/ olive oil to dip. For starters, I ordered a "chilled seafood bento box" which consisted of seared scallops on top of a seaweed salad, two shrimp w/ avocado slices, two giant green-liped mussels, and a lobster salad w/ a tasty sweet sesame soy sauce. It was terrific. Jenn ordered the "butternut squash and rissotto with seared duck breast". I took one bite of hers and I knew that I would order that the next time I went there. For entrees, Jenn got the "6oz filet and crabcake". All of the steaks had a choice of 6 sauces...which included, housemade steak sauce (has a kick to it!), bernaise, port wine reduction, and bourbon sauce (to name a few). I got the "oriental bbq salmon w/potato springroll" it was served over a salad with a japanese mustard vineger sauce (spicy). They both exceeded our expectations. Just as we were about to pass out from all the food, it was time for dessert. I choose the peanut buttercup sundae and Jenn got the chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. They were so good but we couldn't finish, we were too full.

At the end of the meal we found out that the place had only been open since Wednesday, the 24th. It could have fooled us. We'll definately be back!
