Chirashi Don - Ai Sushi, Richmond Hill is now way superior and better value than Taro Fish/Seafood, Markham!

Charles Yu | Sep 29, 202112:03 PM

In my neighbourhood of Richmond Hill/Markham, for the occasional Chirashi lunch, Taro Fish has been my go-to place due to its track record, consistency and quality. Sadly during my past visit, I noticed quality has gone done, selection of toppings had shrunk and price has gone up. Today, I decided to give Ai Sushi a try.

The verdict: At $4 per bowl less and coupled with a very generous amount of acceptable quality and good selection of toppings, the Ai version easily trumped Taro's current mediocre offering!

PS: May be Covid is a factor?.... the usually plentiful supply of Amaebi and Botan-ebi is no longer the case. As an alternative to these shrimp/prawn shortage, Scallops is now being used as a common replacement....but to me, not a desirable choice!
