One of my best friends is marrying a Chinese woman, recently in the U.S. Not a first wedding for either. He is planning on a Sunday afternoon, around lunchtime, in the very near future. He plans on 30 people -- three tables of ten. Cost IS a consideration. He is not demanding lobster, crab or sharks-fin soup and would like to avoid fish with heads on. Dim sum would be good if possible. The wedding ceremony will be short and the party informal, but they would like a private room, and these come with minimum$.
They have been to Mission 261, NBC and another place in the SGV. They plan to check out Sea Empress in Gardena. They have estimates of $400 per table of 10 but also shown a banquet menu for $268. (Would that be without a private room?)
I am trying to help him out by getting suggestions from the best sources I know -- my fellow 'hounds. A pretty room for her, good food and service for him and his guests. Authentic but not scary, if you know what I mean. No alcohol, no kids.
