Once in a while, whilst running errands and shopping in Chinese Malls, I'd like to save time by having a quick bite at their food court. Confronting with so many booths and choices, picking a good one can be a real challenge and a matter of luck!
A couple of weeks ago, I was at First Markham Place getting some health food supplements. Not wanting to venture back out into the cold and have dinner at say Congee Wong..etc. I decided to try out a place called ' Lo's Wok' in the food court next to the lottery booth. A had a simple ' meal on a plate' of Fried crispy egg noodles topped with stirred fry beef with preserved Chinese mustard green, pepper medley and a fermented black bean/garlic sauce. I was stunned by how delicious the dish was! Greaseless, ultra crispy noodles accompanied by a tasty topping full of 'wok-hay'. At $6, all inclusive, with a complimentary cup of soy bean milk, it was great value!
Today, I paid it a re-visit ordering a plate of Stirred fry beef with tomatoes and scrambled egg on rice. The outcome was the same! Great tasting and great value!
Working in the Richmond Hill area, I usually order similar dishes at say Big Mouth Kee, Richmond Court, Judy's Cuisine, John's B-B-Q...etc. for lunch. Quality of food from this tiny obscure food court booth outshines all of the aforementioned list and costs much cheaper!!! Pity its not closer! Sigh!
