New Chico Italian

BN1 | Jan 27, 2008 09:10 AM

We tried the new Fortunatto's Italian Restaurant in Chico last night. It was everything as represented in the review below. We requested the bruschetta, which is not on the menu, and really enjoyed its nice balsamic drizzle. I had the lamb roast and my wife had the special, red snapper with a bacon-wrapped scallop . Both were outstanding. For desert, we shared a banana flambé over vanilla gelato….excellent. The wine list is different: short (5 reds and 3 whites), mostly by-the-glass and written on a piece of paper. They said the wine list changes a lot so it’s just on a piece of paper. We each choose a glass ($5.75) of Tornano Chianti with our bruschetta. I continued with the Tornano with my baby Caesar salad and lamb, while my wife switched to the Pinot Grigio with her clam chowder and red snapper. We liked the wines and upon returning home, I was surprised to find the Chianti rated in the Gambero Rosso wine guide; they liked it too. This is a needed addition to Chico.
