Chicago transit to the Publican

JazzyK | May 22, 2012 08:22 PM

I have done tons of research on this board for our 1st trip to Chicago. We are only in Chicago for 1 day and 2 nights. So that means we can squeeze in 2 dinners and 1 lunch....or maybe more :) We will be in Chicago this holiday weekend so many restaurants are closed on Sun & Mon. This is what I have decided on...

Sunday night: 8pm reservations at the Publican, then head over to Girl and the Goat for a 2nd round of food. Then on to the Aviary for drinks.

Monday: Lunch at Purple Pig and later dinner at Longman and Eagle and drinks at Revolution. We will be visiting the Hancock Building, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, etc (all the touristy stuff).

My question is....what is the easiest way to get from Midway Airport to the Publican? Obviously a taxi, but what if we want to use CTA? I know to take the orange train to downtown but from there I am confused. We can take the Blue train to Grand but the Green also seems to get us within a few blocks. And then again there is the bus that stops at Halstead. Our plane lands at 6pm and we need to make a quick stop at our hotel near the airport (next time we will stay downtown, this was free) so we need to move as quick as possible.

I know....take a taxi. But I don't want to! I am frugal.
