Chez Victor and Nectar

I was in Toronto last weekend and had the pleasure of re-discovering two restaurants in Toronto. Two places where I had both very good and very bad experiences

I had seen on this website that Nectar had a new chef, so on Friday, upon arrival, I visited a place that I once LOVED but that had disappointed me in the last year. It was AMAZING. I had oysters at first and then a T-Bone (yes, you read well), which was delicious. There was a lot of people, compared to the last times I was there, and everybody seemed to have really enjoyed their evening and their meal.

On Saturday, since I was in a hurry and was staying at Le Germain, I decided to try Chez Victor. Now. Obviously, the restaurant is not ready yet. Since it's a restaurant in a hotel, they had to open very fast because they have a service to provide to the guests, but after a conversation with the people there, I learned that the place will indeed change and the decor will have more of a "Germain" touch. Anyway. The food. The food was just delicious. Started out with an amuse-bouche of deep fried Foie Gras (just one bite is enough...but what a bite! ). Then we shared an appetizer of mustard and tomato pie and also shared two entrees, one of tuna and the other of Irish cod. The fish was fresh and tasty. We finished out with tiny desserts, also very good. I say, wait a month or two for the Germain family to make the room their own, and this restaurant will be the talk of the town!

Also went to Thuet for brunch on Sunday. Loved it. I had the classic benedict eggs....and they were very decent, for the price. Liked the ambiance!
