Chet's Taverna - Minneapolis

It's not "new" information, but I just want to put it out there again what a jewel this place is in the MN dining landscape. For anyone looking for a quiet, romantic spot for dinner and superb, consistent local and organic cuisine, this is a great place.

I've probably exceeded my share of posts today, but I want to give mention of a spectacular dinner there on New Year's Eve. Scallops with lobster risotto and elk with creamy mashed potatoes (special that night) were done to perfection, abundant in freshness and flavor and beautifully presented in a pleasantly understated plate. Desserts were just as good -- semolina bread pudding, chocolate bourbon cake and an apple pie (not what it was called) with walnut ice cream.

The wine list is thorough but concise, and the meal provided by genuinely pleasant staff. I always leave the place thinking "I can't wait to get back."

Maybe due to its non-descript location, Chet's sometimes gets lost in the shuffle when talking about the top Mpls/SP cuisine, but hopefully putting this out here will help visiting hounds discover this gem.
