Chester’s Fried Chicken to Go, Vallejo

I’d never seen this chain before, let alone tried the food, so I couldn’t help but stop at the Fairgrounds Drive location. The chicken in the case looked fine, not too greasy with what looked like a thick crackly breading. A choice of sweet and sour, Tabasco or barbecue sauce was offered as a condiment. The drumstick was juicy inside with a crunchy skin. The thigh was overcooked and dry, and the underside of the breading was oil-logged rendering it inedible. The breading for both was overly salty.

Better than KFC, but Popeye’s and Church’s have nothing to worry about.
