Knoll's Black Forest Inn, that bastion of roast goose is part of a holiday ritual. Marvellous service, food, ambiance, warmth, personal attention - have I said everything? Not enough by far. What a great dinner. Herring plate with apples, salad and then the goose with creamed spinach and nutmeg, apple strudel with ice cream, hazelnut cake, coffee, drinks, wine - who cares about anything after that. One of our party had sauerbraten and sent back a clean plate it was so tasty.
