Chef KC Howland has moved on from the Wine Vault. From what I was told, he is doing a stage in Holland and will be heading back up to the Bay Area. His Sous, Ryan McCarthy has been put into the head chef role.
I'm hoping not to see a big difference in food quality as McCarthy had worked under Howland through most, if not all of his tenure as head chef. I certainly didn't see a difference when I ate there recently. However, it's too bad SD has lost a very creative and competent chef. Damn you Bay Area!!
