I had a great dinner at Schwa at 1466 N. Ashland Avenue last weekend. It's a small place, about 10 tables, with a laid back atmosphere and excellent food. All three starters we had (quail egg ravioli, lobster, white anchovy) were good, as were the three entrees (duck, pork tenderloin/belly, scallops). The pork tenderloin/belly and scallops were our favorite entrees, as well as the lobster starter. The deserts were disappointing, i.e. not up to the standard of the rest of the meal. One of the chefs we talked to said they knew this was a weak spot and they were working to remedy it. It's BYOB with a $5 corkage fee.
