Chains - good and not-so-good

Recently I had a very yummy lunch at Bice, which serves great fresh pasta dishes and (and a fried calamari appetizer with a very piquant marinara sauce). I have also enjoyed a Bice in Florida.

This afternoon I went to another chain, China Grill, and was not impressed. Although portions were huge, "tempura-sashimi" had soggy edges. Barbecued salmon was rawer than it needed to be. Also, my companion had an allergy to chives and had to send back both his appetizer and entree after they arrived smothered with chives (he had told the waiter beforehand). The service was very friendly although a bit slow.
