Chai in Half Moon Bay

chardgirl | Jun 7, 2006 09:25 AM

10 years ago I had a GREAT cup of chai at a small coffee house in Half Moon Bay about 10 years ago. I've remembered that cup for all these years and finally got back there last month: and the same man, I assume the owner, was still there serving chai. His sign outside the window now says "Coastside Coffee and Chai", with a smaller sign in the window that says "Chai spoken here".

His chai is not extra spicy or extra gingery, both qualities of my own bastard brew at home that might not even let me call 'chai' if he were to try it. His chai is smooth, cardamom tinged and has a nice tea flavor. He also sprinkles the milk foam with extra cardomom: a nice touch.

I also enjoyed that his menu said "No soy chai or iced chai". You can have it his way or look elsewhere!

Coastside Coffee and Chai is next to Albertsons in the shopping center (strip mall style) that is where hwy 92 meets hwy 1.

If this belongs on the California board, I apologize in advance, I can't get the borders of the 2 boards straight, since I live near the borders of the hinterlands....
