Cerritos - Island Pacific market- ok. Hot Shoppe - RIP

A bit of sad news for hot sauce lovers - the former Hot Shoppe in Cerritos is no more. They used to carry the complete line of Marie Sharp's sauces, which I'll now have to source elsewhere, dammit.

Located in the same strip mall on South Street and Gridley, there's a Filippino supermarket called Island Pacific, part of a chain of a half dozen locations in California. Took home two different kinds of fresh sausage: a mildly sweet, naturally colored pork sausage whose name escapes me, and a bright red, spicy pork longaniza. Both cooked up garlicky, slightly sweet, and delicious.

If you need an Asian supermarket with a more Filippino focus than 99 Ranch, this is your place. However, the fish department looked suspect. I wouldn't take home the old seafood from here if was free. Meats looked good, though.
