CenturyLife-esque review of DTC cookware

PaupersPride | Mar 7, 201912:15 PM     7

Recently I purchased a new cookware set to replace my older (and cheaper) non-inducting set. Although I like to think I did my research, it was only afterward that I stumbled across CenturyLife's in-depth reviews and explanatory articles as to what exactly makes good cookware good.

Unfortunately, they only have reviews for the more classic brands and none of the new DTCs like Made In, Misen, etc. Is there anyone who has done the same kind of testing on these newer brands? They seem to be better then the older 3-ply sets, and less deceiving then the current 5-ply trend, but how do they hold up against the high end 7-ply or mixed construction (Atlantis 7) sets?

Does it even begin to make sense to spend the same amount of money on a single 11" skillet and saute pan as an entire modestly thick clad set? Aren't we approaching diminishing returns where the skill of the user makes more difference then the pan used? Is it worth blowing past my budget to pick up the Atlantis set on sale now and just pay it down over time?
