Cemitas poblanos truck-Los Pericos in WLA

petradish | Aug 12, 200509:17 PM

This is the trailer-less truck that parks weekday afternoons outside the Smart & Final at Pico & Cotner, just south of the Wine House.

Milanesa Cemita: a flattened, herb-flecked & crusty meat patty-very nice, like a slab of deep fried gyro. Toasted sesame bun-somehow heated just enough to release the sesame seed fragrance, pickled onions, creamy slices of hass avocado, a slab of soft white cheese, a dainty teaspoon of chipotle sauce...had to go back and get more hot sauce! Thankfully the counterman handed me a container of what looked like plump homemade chipotles in vinegar sauce, not canned, akin to great bbq sauce. Add a couple of those & now we're talking lip-tingling good. Great lunch: 2 sandwiches + 2 Mexican sodas=$11. Actually liked the cemitas a little more from the truck that parked on Bundy & Sta Monica Blvd for the stringier cheese, but this was great.

Thanks WLA & PeteEats for this one!
