I'm in search of two items:
1) Salmon roe--I've never bought this except for at the tackle shop or in a sushi restaurant. What are the types (fresh/in a jar) and what's a good source for it in SF? I just need about 4oz. but wonder about quality, etc. Assuming a Japantown fish market? I saw a post on one from a few years ago and wonder if there has been any change.
2) We used to get big jars of cheap caviar (capelin? hacklebeck?) for dips, omelettes, etc., from Trader Joe's in DC--3.5oz for $3.99, but they don't carry it at the locations here. Thoughts on a replacement source? My parents overnighted us 5 jars last Christmas and I think it's time we figured out another way. :)
