Catching up: Blue Room, Lobster Pool, Richart Chocolat

I bought an absolutely lovely assortment of chocolates from Richart in the Copley mall recently. The petits had floral, cirtus, fruity, and spiced flavorings and came with an inscribed chocolate card. I thought the chocolate itself was rich yet delicate.

The Lobster Pool in Rockport is open: hurrah! I had a lobster roll & sweet potato fries and even managed to snag some lobster action. Lobster Pool's roll has no filler, aka celery, and is filled to the brim with sweet and supple lobster. I still like the one at Kelly's the best for this type of roll, but I Lobster Pool's is a close second. The steamed lobster was succulent and lovely and friends seemed to enjoy their assortment of haddock plate, crab roll, and salad. I adore The Lobster Pool.

Blue Room: Had a work dinner here with 15 folks and there could not have been a better choice. I split the softshell crab appetizer with a DC and he, in turn, split the grilled squid with me. Both were thoroughly outstanding: the balance between acid, grilling, and salty was just fantastic. I also tasted the steamed mussels, which I thought were nice, save the chickpeas, and the lamb kababobs which came with a lovely cucumber yogurt salad that was entirely addictive. For mains, I had the grilled shrimp & chorizo in a scotch bonnet marinade with smashed yuca and a garlic ponzu sauce - spicy! The flavors were all there and the heat built well. I tried the cassoulet - nice - and the grilled sirloin - overcooked, but tasty. For dessert, I shared a chocolate shell, which was essentially a chocolate crepe filled with chocolate mousse. All in all, the meal was fantastic.
