In November I slid into this taqueria counter located in a gas station convenience store shortly before 7pm closing. At that point, it had been open for ten months. Today it's still flying under the radar and deserves to be better known. Chef Juan is serving up some fine grub here.
To diversify my risk, I tried two items for an initial order. The surf and turf taco, $3.25, with grilled to order carne asada and fried shrimp with avocado slices, jack cheese and chipotle sauce just explodes with layers of flavor. And even better, Shrimp KC-dilla, $3.75, on a griddled till crispy corn tortilla, melted cheese, shrimp, avocado sauce, pico de gallo and crema. Both were artful and scrumptious King City originals.
I was sorry to miss out on the Friday tri-tip special. I was advised that it sells out early each time. That meat is grilled over charcoal in the back for that Central Coast flare.
Take-out only, no seating, but plenty of off-street parking.
