Castle Street Cafe Report ( The Berkshires )

niccole | Feb 25, 2006 09:19 AM

last night we had a girls night- 7 of us at castle street. i have been there a few times since i moved back home, dont know why i havent posted yet...

castle street has 2 parts- the nice dining room, and then a cozy dim bar area on the other side. you can eat in there with bar or regular menu. they also have live music, and last night it was GREAT.

they dont take res. for the bar area, but we were able to get a table right away for 7 of us @ 6:30. when we 1st got there, the place was probabley 1/4 full with tables, but the bar was full. by the time we left- 5 hours later!- the place was PACKED, and had been for hours.

i have eaten here many times, both dining & bar menu...sometimes im blown away, sometimes its good but not great. never had a "bad" meal though. last night we all ordered off the bar menu. i had shrimp dumplings to start and they were OK and then 1/2 order of pasta w/ goat cheese & walnuts. it was good, not great.

last night definetely wasnt about the food though-actually, let me take that back- my brownie sundae WAS to die for...good cocktails & wine, great service, AWESOME band playing, the whole place was rocking out. i didnt even care the food didnt blow me away, we were having such a good time...

will return again & again.

total with tax & tip for 7 = $333
